CH13 Car Purchase Process
Kansas City Bankruptcy Attorneys
If you need to buy a car while in Chapter 13, there are several dealers that our CH13 clients have had success with and sell a decent, reliable car. However, if you have not completed the credit rebuilding process with a credit score of 675 +, the interest rate will be high.
The following dealers have sold cars to our chapter 13 clients and understand the process:
- DriveTime – Noland Rd #816-859-7585 – Contact Tynell Baker
- Cable-Dahmer Chevrolet in Independence, MO – contact Patrick Sullivan #816-254-3860
- McCarthy Hyundai – Blue Springs, MO – contact Kevin #816-285-3252
- Shawnee Mission Kia - #913-384-9100 - Merriam KS
- Lawrence Kia - #785-856-8700 – Lawrence KS
- McCarthy Chevrolet in Lee’s Summit, MO – 816-875-4678
- C & S Sales in Belton, MO – contact John Theis #816-331-8331
- CarSmart Auto Sales – Kansas City, MO - #816-437-8888 – Contact Ted
Before you purchase we will need to file a Motion to Borrow with the court before the dealer can finalize the deal. This usually takes about 21-28 days. The terms of the purchase are usually limited to $15K purchase price, 72 month term of the loan, payments no higher than $450/month and an interest rate at or below 27%.
Please let us know your intentions and we will file the paperwork and provide you a copy of the Motion that you can take with you as you look for a car. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SPEND AS MUCH AS THE COURT ALLOWS. Purchase what you can afford. Also, we will need you to tell us how you will afford the new payment (increased pay, overtime, surrendering old car, help from family, reduced expenses, etc….).
